Questions to ask about facial filler
The consultation should make the proposal understandable.
Product and purpose
Ask the clinician to identify the product and explain why it is suitable for the proposed area and objective. Tell them about previous filler, including the date and product if known.
Risks and recovery
Discuss common effects such as swelling, bruising or tenderness, and serious complications that can occur less often. Vascular complications and visual injury are among the risks described by the FDA. Be clear about symptoms requiring urgent attention.
Review and expectations
Agree on how and when the result will be assessed. Cost, potential additional treatment and aftercare should be discussed before consent. The result seen in another person, or in an illustrative photograph, cannot be guaranteed for you.
